Does slatted fencing give privacy?

At normal viewing angles, yes — the gaps read as shadow lines rather than windows. Stand square-on within touching distance and you can see through; from the street or a neighbouring garden you cannot.

Will the slats sag over time?

Not if the spans are right. We size the board section to the post spacing so nothing is carrying more than it should — sagging slats are almost always a spacing problem, and we do not build them that way.

Can I stain or paint slatted fencing?

Yes. Treated softwood takes stain well once it has dried out for a few weeks; painted finishes look sharp but sign you up for maintenance. Many customers let it silver naturally.

Is slatted fencing more expensive than panels?

Per metre, yes — there is more timber and more labour in it. It is priced like closeboard rather than lap panels, and it is usually chosen for the look rather than the budget.

Can you screen a heat pump or bin store with slats?

Yes — short slatted enclosures around air-source units and bins are a growing part of the work. We leave the airflow gaps the unit needs.
